What is Handcycling?

Its been a little while since our last post but there has been a huge increase in people wanting to get back out and get some exercise during the pandemic. We have changed the structure of our daily lives over the last year and have become less active.

Handcycles work the same as bicycles except you use your hands and upper body strength to propel the bike instead of your legs. There are so many advantages to handcycling including weight loss, building muscle, spending time with your family and friends and keeping you motivated.

There are 3 types of handcycles

Basic:

Excelerator

The Excelerator is a Great low cost handcycle for beginners that will intoduce you to the sport. Its easy to transfer into and its adjustable in many ways so you can find what works best for you. Intermediate:

XLT

The XLT is an Intermediate handcycle priced slightly higher then the basic Excelerator. The advantages of the XLT is that its an affordable option to get into lighter competitions and longer rides. After moving to this level you understand the importance of a lighter and faster handcycle. The XLT will help you achieve your goals and help you move to the next level of the sport. Its not extremely low so transferring into the handcycle is not as difficult as the advanced models. To learn more about this handcycle click here.

Advanced:

Force RX

The Force RX is an Advanced machine that is custom made for you to fit your specific measurements. With the Force RX you will be able to compete in professional marathons and events. Its extremely lightweight and its gears will take you as fast as you can go. The only downsides to this handcycle is that its lower to the ground and a little harder to transfer into. If you are interested in getting back out and becoming more active handcycling is a great way to go. Make sure you study the models and choose the type that best suits you. Remember to always wear a helmet, carry plenty of water to hydrate and to always ride with a safety flag while you are on the road.
